Print at home

The files are already the right size. The usual mistake is letting the printer “fit” the page, which shrinks the poster and adds a border.

Use the PDF

Open the A4 or A3 PDF from the unlocked downloads. The free preview is watermarked and too small to frame. A paid key also downloads this guide as a one-page PDF. Open the maker if you still need the files.

Actual size

In the print box, choose Actual size, 100%, or Scale: 100. Turn off Fit to page. You do not need a borderless printer: the designs already have a margin.

Paper

200gsm matte, or a warm uncoated sheet, suits every design. Glossy photo paper makes the navy posters look plastic. A home inkjet is enough. A high-street shop is the easier way to print A3.

Frames

A4 fits the frames sold on most British high streets. A3 is the piece you give a wall to.

The other files

The square image is for a card or a message. The phone file is 1080 by 1920. Set it as the wallpaper and let the phone crop the edges if it needs to.

Colour

Print in colour, even for the pale designs. A matte or plain-paper setting is kinder than a vivid photo setting, which can push navy towards blue.

The map is a chart of calculated positions, not a photograph. The Moon is drawn larger than life so it survives the print. Questions: lumenight@mail.grokbot.com.
